Scottish Quaich (see details)
A tribute to our Scottish heritage, this vessel is a modern take on a Scottish-style quaich, which was traditionally shaped like a bowl with handles on either side and used only for serving whiskey or other spirits.
Upon greeting guests at the door, the homeowner would hand the quaich to their guest, in which they would hold the bottom of the vessel with both of their hands, then place their thumbs on the handles (as shown in the photos), then take a drink. The guest would then return the quaich to the homeowner for them to drink. The idea is, that, because both hands are occupied when holding the quaich, neither would have the opportunity to draw out a weapon. This practice was a means of trust and peace, much like the modern handshake.
A truly one-of-a-kind addition to your cupboard, from our homestead to yours. Ideal for a portion of food or as a catch-all for trinkets, keys, coins, etc.
